METAMORPHIC

‘Metamorphic’ is a series of textile art pieces employing the ancient Goldwork embroidery and applique techniques with a contemporary flare. Inspired by a visit to Cyprus, the forms and composition of rocks within Roman walls of Ancient Kourion captured her attention. She was fascinated by the organic and non-uniform nature of the crumbling constructions. Alex used a mixture of hand dyed silk velvets and repurposed Saris to add pattern and build a variety of textures within the pieces.
